At the moment, this is a personal website detailing my projects, musings, and other ideas that come into my head.
In short: this website is a place to put things on top of other things (words onto the web), and to host and share files and resources related to projects.
About Me:
In four sentences:
I’m Jacob Jones. I do a lot of things, some of which are less easily explained than others. Currently, I’m studying Mechanical Engineering and Technical Theatre Production at TXST. After university, I’m looking to solve complex problems.
Expanding:
I’m someone who loves to learn, and am learning through life.
I’m currently studying in college, learning and building the pillars of skills and experience I’ll walk on furthermore. One pillar focuses on analyzing problems, another is about building the solutions to those problems. The other pillars I lean on, but am developing slower, are leadership, communication, humility, and opportunity. Each of these pillars has deeper meaning than the simple words they package into; yet the packed words come from that deeper meaning built over time.
What I Do
Like every person, I tell stories. The story of where I want to end up doing: approaching a problem, struggling to fully understand, or as close as can be, the context and various issues at play, and then come to a good conclusion. What I do is apart of who I am, and that takes
Pillars
Critical Thinking
Common sense is rare these days, and not only because Thomas Paine is dead. This is the top of the list, as good critical thinking is beneficial across many aspects of life.
Practical Skills
Best described as knowing how to do tasks beyond day to day activities. Practical skills enable footings on which expertise can be expanded, allow you to validate (check that what you know matches the real world) what you know, and solve problems yourself.
Leadership
How can I best describe leadership? I can’t, but I can practice and demonstrate it.
What I want to describe is leading people, and that is nigh indescribable from my limited experience. I know that good leaders create reasons to stay around them, and bad leaders create reasons to leave them. Beyond that, what I can say about leadership is that you should almost never pay for a book on it when you can read it from a library, to then ignore half of it.
Communication
Telepathy among those who have spent a decent percentage of life together is decently high, almost like good dancing. However, we can’t all be telepathic. Communication is difficult, encompasses diction, context, perception, and scope, and is ripe for misunderstanding. Communication helps unlock
Learning
Without this, all of the above is useful as far as today. The ability and will to learn allows us to bend, break, and regrow as the environments change. Learning to learn is one of the harder skills, but allows a greater result from the same input.
Humility
This is where I have the most to grow. I’m using humility as a general catch-all for the less than describable character traits that people can’t say but can only live.
Opportunity
You can’t work in a vacuum, and yet you can’t do everything. I view opportunity as twofold: you must create opportunity for opportunities to appear, and you must select opportunities to commit to and leverage.

I have a passion for solving problems. However, as I learn more and more, problems change from reductive to systematic; simple answers can’t solve all simple problems.
